Henrik Fisker and his partner Bernhard Koehler co-founded Fisker Automotive in the year 2007 on 7th August.  Henrik had previously been responsible for designing various premium cars like BMW Z8, Artega GT, V8 Vantage and Aston Martin DB9. This brand was originally headquartered in Anaheim, California.

In year 2012, Fisker decided to stop production. Matters became complicated because of series of events. At first its supplier of battery A123 Systems became bankrupt, then it became involved in repairing and recalling of its cars and lastly its CEO Henrik Fisker resigned. Production had come to a standstill for nearly five months and there was no hope of restarting it. Meanwhile, production of planned second model Fisker Atlantic had to be postponed. In year 2013 month of November brand Fisker declared bankruptcy and in year 2014, February, it was purchased by Wanxiang Group, a Chinese Conglomerate of auto-parts.

In year 2015, 30th September, Fisker Automotive announced that a change was eminent. Fisker Automotive now came to be known as Karma Automotive, LLC with James Taylor as its chief marketing official. It now became a new brand with new team of management, new ownership and new production site, thus trying for a complete change.


Brand Fisker dealt in automotive industry and it was responsible for launch of its only product Fisker Karma. This electric vehicle was world’s first plug-in-hybrid and it was launched at North American International Auto Show in year 2008. Brand Fisker was the first brand to create green-car segment that became a hit and which almost every manufacturer is trying to emulate.

It is a reliable automobile with innovative features. The car runs in a smooth and easy manner and it is simple to navigate controls. This hybrid has four doors for easy access. Interior is beautiful with a comfy look. It has bucket frontal seats, leather upholstery, and wooden dashboard, steering wheel made of leather and seats for four people.

Fisker is available as three variants EcoStandard, EcoChic and EcoSport. Its external features include dual exhaust, spacious trunk for cargo at rear, power-door mirrors as well as heated-door mirrors and auto-dimming-door mirrors. It also has indicator mirrors for turn signals.

Fisker Karma also has rear and front holders for beverage, an in-built navigation system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, a transmitter for garage door, dual options of tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a keyless entry with help of remote and power-front windows. It also has air conditioning, auto-temperature control and speed control.

Fisker’s entertainment components include FM/AM radio, MP3 decoder and audio controls mounted on steering wheels. EcoStandard has six speakers whereas EcoSport and EcoChic have 8 speakers.

Fisker has regenerate brakes, rear-wheel drive, 1-speed auto-transmission, 403 horsepower, 959 lb-feet torque, 9.0 capacity of fuel in fuel tank, brake assistance, panic alarm, electronic stability, power steering, alloy wheels, rear and front tyres, traction control, ABS brakes and overhead brakes.

Fisker Karma is one of the best looking vehicles on road as it looks eye-catching and stylish. It supports the theory that one has to provide support to new technologies so that they can become normal and ready for daily usage.
