One of the world’s most prestigious manufacturers of luxury sports cars, Jaguar Car Company has a very powerful brand presence around the world. This British automaker brand is known for its range of sports cars that can be used in everyday life.
Jaguar Logo Meaning & History
If there’s one brand logo that perfectly imitates its company’s name, it’s the Jaguar. Jaguar logo is an accurate representation of the brand i.e. one of the most stylish, sleek, graceful and elegant logos around the world. This leaping feline is easily one of the most recognizable and beloved symbols ruling the roads. The earliest version of the Jaguar logo was introduced in 1935 when it introduced the SS Jaguar sedan as a joint venture with chassis producer Standard Motor Company. The emblem represented the “SS” letters in a hexagon surrounded by a bird’s wings and tail. After the World War II, the company dropped the ‘SS’ from the brand’s name and the Jaguar introduced the symbol of pouncing Jaguar. The Jaguar as the logo was meant to symbolize the core values pursued by the company: grace, elegance, performance, power, and ambition to move forward. There was nothing better than a dynamic jaguar posture to reflect all these qualities.
However, the leaping feline is not the only Jaguar logo used by the brand. Older models featured a combination of the jumping jaguar and a more conventional round emblem with a roaring jaguar’s face on silver or red background. This image was embedded into the silver circle. Lately, with the introduction of new safety regulations, the use of potentially hazardous bulging emblems has been forbidden and Jaguar was forced to remove the famous jumping jaguar from the hood of all models. It moved to the rear part of the cars, while the second logo with the Jaguar’s face on silver or red font decorates the radiator grills of all Jaguar cars.
This Jaguar symbol has gone through several revisions during its history but they weren’t nearly as frequent or as large-scale as those of other brands. The first version of the current Jaguar sign had Jaguar written in a darker shade of teal and the animal’s contour was black. In the next version the text became all black and to give the animal a more natural look, some angles were turned into curves, teeth and ears were added and the Jaguar logo became a bit more streamlined. The next version of the symbol had silver-gray text and a jet black Jaguar. Now, the latest update of 2012 made it even more classy and elegant.
The current Jaguar logo is designed in black, silver and metallic gray colors. Tridimensional figure features gradient shades of color that make the jaguar posture look rich and animate. However, the logo that can be seen on radiator grills and wheels has the red font on several models to stress on performance and passion.
