Peugeot is a subsidiary company that works under its parent company PSA Peugeot Citroen. French company was found in year 1810 by Armand Peugeot and has its operational headquarters in Sochaux and legal administrative base in Paris. It deals in various automobiles like commercial vehicles, sports cars, luxury cars and cars.

Over the years Peugeot has earned many awards of international varieties for its outstanding vehicles. It is the winner of European Car of the Year four times. Peugeot Sport won Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in a row twice, World Rally Championship for an impressive five times and three times Intercontinental Rally Challenge Championship.

Overview

Peugeot started as coffee-mill Company and graduated towards manufacturing of bicycle in year 1830. Armand became involved in automobile industry very early as he was convinced of its future. Peugeot started manufacturing of automobiles and later production for motorcycle was started. First brand Peugeot automobile was released in 1889 and only four units were made. More vehicles followed as 29 units were constructed in 1892 and in year 1894 number of units were 40. It gradually increased to three hundred units in year 1899. Early models had Type numbers to distinguish them. Peugeot was first to use rubber tyres for a car that was running on petrol. In year 1896, company produced its own engine and with time started improvisation on them.

During World-War I, brand started manufacturing of military vehicles including shells, bicycles and armoured cars. After war it started manufacturing in earnest and later introduced Peugeot 202, 302 and 402 versions. In year 1955, Peugeot 403 was launched with an engine of 1.5 liter. Company tasted huge success as it sold nearly one million units.
